Business English Practicum (Internship)

The Business English Practicum (BEP) offers a supervised, unpaid practicum placement in a Canadian company to the graduates of our Business English program.

CBEI will match you with a company that fits your education, experience, and your career goals. For example, our students have been placed in international trading companies, accounting and insurance companies, banks, advertising agencies, etc. The placements of students for this program are done very carefully and with respect for the host companies.

Practicum Goals:
You will:

  • Have the opportunity to practice your business English skills in a Canadian, English-speaking work environment;
  • Use English to develop your cross-cultural skills;
  • Increase your knowledge of corporate culture;
  • Gain insight into your field of study and/or profession as practiced in Canada;
  • Share some of your professional knowledge with the host company.

Requirements:

  • You must be at least 20 years old;
  • You should have previous relevant work experience;
  • You must be at an advanced English level when entering the internship component;
  • You must be committed to the program and your host company;
  • You must arrange your own transportation to and from your internship workplace;
  • You must fulfill the internship requirements of Immigration Canada.

Because CBEI offers quality internship placements, it is important that students are well-prepared. All internship participants receive an orientation on the preparation of resumes for Canadian companies and the companies they are placed in. The internship coordinator is available to counsel the student during the internship, and will liaise with the host company.

Students who successfully complete internships receive a certificate from CBEI, and will also receive reference letters from the host companies.
